Hello,

Did anyone use Fidesmo PGP through GnuPG from a desktop computer?

I’m thinking of using USB NFC Reader like ACR122U but read that there are problems with it (http://musclecard.996296.n3.nabble.com/ACR122U-response-frames-contain-wrong-sequence-numbers-td5002.html).

If anyone used Fidesmo PGP with a computer could tell me what’s a working setup?

Kind regards,
Wiktor

Hello Wictor,

A contactless reader should work just fine. When buying a PC/SC reader, get one
that has drivers for your operating system and/or preferrably conforms to CCID standard
(no proprietary vendor drivers needed at all).

There’s a list of different readers available here:

https://ccid.apdu.fr/ccid/section.html (search for “contactless” in the features column)

Items marked with “supported” and “shouldowrk” should be just fine.

Regarding ACR122U – it is an old reader with many revisions of firmware, some better
than other and it is difficult to know which one is which. Choose a newer ACS reader
if possible. Some other popular and cheap readers include Feitian.

Best regards,
Miguel

Wow, that’s a lot of useful info, thank you a lot Miguel!

I talked about ACR112U because that’s the first thing that appeared on my searches but your CCID list is a lot more impressive.

FEITIAN R502-CL looks quite good and as far as I can see on product page it’s supported by all popular OSes (https://pacsuppliesusa.com/feitian-r502-cl through CCID).

Thank you once again Miguel, your advice was exactly what I needed.

Have a nice day!

Kind regards,
Wiktor
